Today, we will introduce an effective method for those who are having trouble removing yellowing from the collars and sides of their T-shirts. This simple method using sodium percarbonate will help you restore the yellowing to a clean, white color! The steps are explained in detail below.
What you need:
- Sodium percarbonate ( oxygen bleach )
- Detergent (anything you normally use is fine)
- 40℃~50℃ hot water
- A container (such as a bucket or washbasin large enough to fully immerse the T-shirt)
procedure
-
Prepare hot water First, prepare hot water at 40°C to 50°C in a container. The temperature of the water is important to bring out the effects of the sodium percarbonate, so try to keep it within this range as much as possible.
-
Dissolve the sodium percarbonate . Next, add 1 tablespoon (about 15g) of sodium percarbonate per liter of hot water and dissolve it. Stir well to ensure it is completely dissolved.
-
Add detergent Next, add the appropriate amount of detergent you normally use for washing. This will give your laundry extra cleaning power.
-
Soak the T-shirt you want to remove the yellowing from. Soak the yellowed T-shirt in this solution for 30 minutes to several hours. Adjust the soaking time depending on the degree of yellowing. For stubborn yellowing, soaking for a little longer may be effective.
-
Once the rinsing and soaking are done, rinse the T-shirt thoroughly and then wash it in a regular washing machine with the rest of your laundry. This will help remove all the sodium percarbonate.
Important points to note
- Do not use on colored clothing : Sodium percarbonate is for white clothing only. Please note that using it on colorful T-shirts may cause the color to fade.
- DO NOT USE ON WOOL OR SILK : Sodium percarbonate is not suitable for delicate fabrics, so avoid using it on wool or silk T-shirts.
- Do not use on metal items or items with gold dust : Sodium percarbonate can react with metal. Avoid using it on items with metal decorations or on T-shirts with gold dust.
- Fail at your own risk : All methods have risks, so be careful and test in an inconspicuous area before using.
Follow these tips to use sodium percarbonate safely and we hope your T-shirts are white again!
